Spreading My Wings - by L.A. Jenkins
About the Book

(*see author's note below synopsis)

Spreading My Wings is simply the story of a young woman's attempt to carve out a life for herself.

When Rae learns that she cannot have children her world is shattered. She fell in love with her husband ten years ago and gave up college to become a wife and mother.

Now she knows that an important part of the life she imagined will never come true and she cannot sit idly by and accept it. So Rae decides to go back to school at UT, where she began, and finish her Bachelors degree.

Back again at UT, the place where she met her husband, Gordon, and put her life on a different track, Rae is determined to pick up the pieces and regain her self-esteem and her joy. However, no one can really ever go back and Rae is no exception.

Over time, things have changed on the campus she used to call home. Different people with different ideas inhabit her old stomping ground. Long held values are called into question. While pursuing this new life, Rae is placing the life she has known and her relationship with her husband in jeopardy.

It doesn't take long for Rae to discover that this time around, she will learn her most critical lessons outside the classroom.

*Author's note:
Spreading My Wings is apparently one of those novels with characters that you either LOVE or HATE! Most especially, the main character, Rae Prescot, has caused a lot of controversy. Some of my readers admire Rae as a modern, confident, tenacious young woman. She is somewhat of a heroine to them. They feel inspired and they love her.
Others are adamant that she is a selfish, self-serving, ingrate, of loose morals, who is receiving much more patience and generosity from her husband than she deserves. They see Rae as a villainous specimen of a woman and they hate her! Yes, my readers have actually used the word hate. You must judge for yourself.
I must also warn you about the mature content. I have been complimented on the tasteful way the intimate scenes are presented. However, one reader said to me that she "had to close my eyes during the sexy parts." Again, you must judge for yourself.
I apologize for anything you may find even remotely offensive. I assure you that Rae is not me. I have been married to the same man for almost thirty years now and we have two marvelous daughters. Further, my religious beliefs do not condone her behavior. It is a work of fiction!
Honestly, I started with an idea and watched it play out in my imagination. Then, I wrote it down on paper. I feel somewhat like the messenger of the story instead of its creator. I would love to know your opinion. Please come back to the site after you read the book and let me know what you think. I love to hear from my readers.
